Henninger's has been designing and building altars for decades. Our crew of skilled craftsmen have the capabilities to fabricate many types of altars in multiple mediums. This section is meant to show the vast range of possibilities in a new altar. Altars of Sacrifice, Reposition, Side Altars, and Communion Rails should all follow a common theme and work in concert to create a sacred space for the Eucharist.

Franciscan Sisters T.O.R. - Toronto, Ohio

The Franciscan Sisters T.O.R. commissioned Henninger's to design and build new marble altars and an ambo for their new chapel. The marble was used from SS. Cyril & Methodius, a church that had recently closed in Barberton, Ohio. Henninger's has had the responsibility to find new homes for items like these from numerous closed churches, and this is an excellent example.

Archdiocese of Military Services Chapel - Washington, D. C.

Archdiocese Military Services Renovation

Before Archbishop Timothy Broglio started this renovation, the furniture was made of wood and the tabernacle was placed on the side of the chapel. The centerpiece of his renovation was the altar of sacrifice. It was from Holy Trinity Church in Lorain, Ohio and Henninger's moved and installed in the Archdiocese of Military Services Chapel in Washington, D. C. We also transported marble statues of the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph and constructed a new marble Altar of Repose for their refinished tabernacle.

St. Julie Billiart Church - North Ridgeville, Ohio

St. Julie Billiart Altar

St. Julie Billiart Church asked Henninger's to design and build this altar of sacrifice. It matches the baptismal font we made at the same time. Our woodworkers used the dimensional drawing to cut, stain, paint, and assemble the pieces for this beautiful altar.

St. Joseph Church - Strongsville, Ohio

St. Joseph Strongsville Altar

Henninger's provided all of the sanctuary furniture for the renovation of St. Joseph Church in Strongsville, Ohio. This altar fit into the modern design of the church. Using architectural drawings, our crew built this altar out of marble, wood and brass.

St. Ladislaus Church - Lorain, Ohio

St. Ladislaus Altar

St. Ladislaus Church wanted to replace their movable altar with a more ornate permenent one. This altar of sacrifice was made using the door on the altar rail and other existing pillars from the church. The resulting altar fit properly into the sanctuary.

Free Designs and Estimates

Altars of Sacrifice Drawings

Henninger's offers free designs and estimates. We can design a new altar using existing materials from your church or our warehouse. We can also rework any existing pieces into a new creation. Sometimes the restoration and reworking of altars can lead to the most impressive designs. Let our creativity bring harmony to your worship space. "Since the church teaches us that 'the altar is Christ,' its composition should reflect the nobility, beauty, strength, and simplicity of the One it represents... it is to be 'freestanding to allow the [priest] to walk around it easily and Mass to be celebrated facing the people.'" -Built of Living Stone
